A graduate in Molecular Biology of the Cell at the University of Milan, Alessandro Besana also holds a diploma from the Postgraduate Course in Industrial Property Management at the same University and completed a two-year course in European Patent Law at CEIPI – Centre d’Études Internationales de la Propriété Intellectuelle of the Université de Strasbourg. He is a patent attorney before the Italian Patent and Trademark Office (UIBM), a qualified European Patent Attorney before the European Patent Office (EPO) and a Patent Litigator for the Unified Patent Court (UPC).

After research experience in the field of chemistry and surface pretreatment between 2011 and 2013, he joined Marietti, Gislon e Trupiano in November 2013, where he advises on Industrial Property. His main technical areas of interest include biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry and agribusiness. He handles drafting and prosecution of patent applications, drafting of Freedom to Operate (FTO), patentability analysis and technical support in opposition and litigation proceedings.
